A network of schools around the world supporting individual autonomous language learning through partnership.
What's a tandem?
It's a bicycle for two riders who are both involved in going forward. It's also a metapher for the TANDEM approach to teaching.
Applied to a TANDEM partnership, it refers to two students working together to learn each other's languages, according to the principal:
You help me to learn, I help you to learn and together we will learn to understand each other better.
Applied to teaching, it refers to the communicative method of language instruction used by TANDEM schools in which teachers work with students to learn by direct communication.
Learn a language with a TANDEM language exchange partnership!
Through a language exchange partnership you can practice everything you' ve learned in class in an individual and real-life situation.
A Tandem language partnership works this way: You and your partner speak alternately in the foreign language and together you not only improve your knowledge of the language, but you' ll also get to know many other aspects of both cultures and ways of life.

There are two ways to use this language exchange:
- the face-to-face tandem: at tandem courses or between students at one university. The TANDEM Partnership permits the expansion and development of language skills through inter-linguistic exchange and puts partners with reciprocal language interests in contact with each other. This service is offered free of charge to our students and can be requested at the beginning of each course. For more information about this modality, visit our schools.
- the Online tandem: between students learning togheter across greater distances, via e-mail or telephone. For more information, visit the TANDEM Agency or PARVIS
